Convert YouTube Videos To Animated GIFs

GIFs are always the preferred choice if you want to embed any short video (length typically less than 10 seconds). This allows users to quickly watch the video as animation instead of waiting for the video to load fully which also requires a user’s click to start streaming. Also these GIFs can be used as avatars for your profile on web forums.

You can easily make an animated GIF from any video on your computer using desktop programs like Adobe Photoshop or Camtasia Studio or VirtualDub.

Even though you can download any YouTube video and save it to your PC and convert it into a GIF, but then you may want a direct conversion tool that doesn’t require you to download the video and do the conversion for you online, right? Here’s a website GifSoup, that will do this for you for free.

1. As a first step, register yourself for GifSoup.

2. Now go to GifSoup and enter the YouTube video URL in the box and click “Create Gif”.

Enter YouTube URL in GifSoup

You must have read our earlier post about how to save YouTube or any flash videos from temporary internet file to your hard disk drive as FLVs.

Now, Trevor of How-To-Geek has come up with a mush simpler solution for downloading YouTube videos that doesn’t require installing any browser plugins, or any video grabbing softwares.

All you need is small Bookmarking script as looks like the one given below:

Get YouTube video – (Drag into your bookmarks- currently working to make it work)

Get YouTube video

Drag this YouTube Bookmarklet grab script into your bookmarks (see the animated image below)

Now open any YouTube video, and find a small links below the User profile, you can find two links in this particular case “Standard MP4” and “HD 720p”.

Watch the below video to see the overview of the whole process.

The advantage of using this process is that you need not install any buggy extensions for your browser to get this feature. Also it saves time by giving a direct download link for any YouTube video.

Thanks Trevor for the tip !!

Google Nexus One Preview Video

Google Nexus one phone the going to be ‘The first biggest tech product launch from a major company’ in 2010, is scheduled to be in Android Press Conference.

Of course, we have had  lot of leaked pictures, leaked web pages and now it’s the turn of the videos. As you can easily find out, plenty of videos have been making way to video sharing sites like YouTube, Dailymotion etc. One such video (the longest possible video, I’d say) which caught my attention was this one from Dailymotion, the duration of the video is 09:59 .

The video shows a Nexus One phone(?) with French interface being explored by an enthusiast showcasing its various features:

Note: The video, however has no audio

The shorter versions of the same video are also available on YouTube. Can’t wait it till Jan 5th ?? 🙂
